Sally M. Joyner, interim Executive Director, is a lifelong Memphian and co-founder of MIA. Ms. Joyner has a BA (English Linguistics) and JD from the University of Memphis and an MBA from Christian Brothers University. Her primary areas of interest include gender-based asylum claims as well as immigration relief for children and victims of domestic violence.
Ms. Joyner is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association Immigration Section, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Mid-South Chapter, and the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild. She also serves on the Board of Directors of People for the Enforcement of Rape Laws (PERL), an organization that seeks to empower victims by challenging practices within the political and justice systems that decriminalize rape and sexual assault.
