Legal Assistant Jeshua Schuster has a BFA from Memphis College of Art where he graduated as valedictorian of his class. He studied Spanish while living in southern Mexico in 2013, where he examined the relationship between the United States and Mexico and the effect of NAFTA on the economy and people. Before working with MIA, Mr. Schuster was a community organizer for Workers Interfaith Network, where he helped empower Memphians who were taken advantage of at the workplace. While at WIN, he assisted people who suffered discrimination, wage theft, injuries, and other abuses while working, and coordinated various trainings and workshops related to rights in the workplace.
Jeshua believes that MIA is a crucial resource for Memphis to support the immigrant community in ways they deserve. His purpose at MIA is to “learn how the legal system works in order to better serve the immigrant community and move our society forward”.
